About the Role:

The Serial Box Producer is responsible for developing and curating the text and audio content that appears on the Serial Box platform. This individual develops new Serial Box Originals; responsibilities include pitching original concepts, sourcing and hiring authors, running writers' rooms, managing freelancers, keeping things on budget and on schedule, and generally ensuring a high-quality, finished product. They are very knowledgeable about and well-read in the following categories: science fiction, fantasy, thriller, and mystery.


Serial Box has a strong focus on character driven, well-plotted fiction series in text (not filmed), including major licensed entertainment properties using teams of writers, emulating the TV series development model. As such, the Producer must be expert in working closely with prose writers (not just Film/TV script writers), leading creative teams, packaging entertainment content (making strong choices about copy, art, positioning), and collaborating closely with marketing, PR and sales.


The role is an on-site position in either New York City or LA (with a strong preference for NYC). Job requirements

The right candidate has a proven track record of creating popular content and in identifying talent amongst writers, producers, editors. They have 5-8+ years of experience in related positions, with the ability to create IP pitches and comfortable editing prose. They are a highly flexible thinker, feels unconstrained by convention, and is a true pop-culture fiend—devouring as many scripted TV shows and narrative podcasts as books. They are a respected creative leader known for their talent, sense of humor, and healthy approach to collaboration.
