About the Role:

The Acquisitions Editor will manage third-party content for release on the Serial Box platform. This individual is responsible for identifying podcasts, plays, books, and adaptations; forging partnerships with external creators and producers; and securing distribution rights for both text and audio. They are very well-read and listened in the following categories: science fiction, fantasy, thriller, and mystery.


Serial Box has a strong focus on character driven, well-plotted fiction series in text and audio (not filmed), including major licensed entertainment franchises. As such, the Acquisitions Editor must have the ability to evaluate the market landscape with an eye for commercial properties, negotiate distribution terms and contracts, help lead creative teams, package entertainment content (making strong choices about copy, art, positioning), and collaborate closely with marketing, PR & sales.

Job requirements

The right candidate has a proven track record of acquiring popular content and identifying producers, editors, and talent. They have 3-5 years of experience in related positions. They are a highly flexible thinker, feel unconstrained by convention, and are a true devotee of audio entertainment—devouring both fiction and non-fiction podcasts, audio books. They are a respected creative person known for their talent, sense of humor, and healthy approach to collaboration.


We are looking for candidates that have ideally completed their bachelor's degree; any other advanced degrees are a plus.
